Research participation

Some VibeKoala classrooms may be flagged as research studies approved under institutional ethics review (e.g. EdUHK HREC). This page summarizes what participants should know.

Purpose

Research studies examine how teachers and students use AI-assisted classroom tools. Findings may inform educational technology design and AI tutoring research.

Data collected

Depending on classroom settings, we may collect usage events (timestamps, token counts), chat messages, quiz responses, and module interaction state. Exports use pseudonymized identifiers; email addresses and passcodes are removed.

AI use

Generative AI models process your inputs during classroom activities. Outputs may be incorrect. Interactions may be logged and analyzed for research when you consent.

Voluntary participation

Participation is voluntary. You may withdraw consent without academic penalty. Withdrawal stops future research export of your data.

Retention

Raw usage events follow per-room retention settings (default 90 days). Research exports may be retained in de-identified form for up to two years.
